How to Measure for PVC Wall Panels
How to Measure for PVC Wall Panels
Measuring for PVC Wall Panels is far simpler than you may think, it really does come down to dividing the width of the wall with the width of your chosen panel. Start by measuring the height and the width of the wall.
If we look at the example wall below, this wall is 300 cms wide and 240cms high.

How do I know the width of the panel?
When buying panels the main dimension will be the width. Common panel sizes are 250, 600 and 1000mm. This dimension refers to the visible face of the panel - see the graphic below...

Width of Wall Divided by Width of Panel
Using the same example wall we divide the width (300cms) by the width of the panel (25cms) to give us a requirement of 12 panels. Please see the graphic below...

Most 250mm panels come in packs of four, so in the instance above you would require 3 packs of panels.
What about the height of the panels?
Most 250mm panels are 2.7 Metres long. Using our example wall above we would cut each panel to fit the height so this would mean removing 30cms from each 270cm panel. You can cut four panels in a pack to make it easier and quicker.
If we were using shower panels we wouldnt need to adjust the height as 10mm shower panels come in 2.4 Metre lengths.

How do I measure a wall with a window?
To measure a wall with a window, you follow the same procedure. The only difference being you will adapt the measuring to incorporate the window. The example below illustrates our 3 Metre wall with a 100cm x 110cm window. If you break the wall into three sections as I have handily done you can see that sections 1 and 3 both represent 1 metre (4 panels per Metre).
The section of the wall with the window is approached the same way, it is 1 Metre wide but we will lose 110cms per panel. We take the 110cm of the panel below the window and add the 20cm panel above the window and this will total 130cms. A 250mm panel length is 270cms so we can get the equivalent of two panels out of one panel ( 2 x 110cm + 2 x 20cm)

The example above shows that in this instance you would require 10 panels with 10cm spare on panels 5 and 6.
How to Measure for Multiple Walls
Measuring Multiple walls in your bathroom or any room is basically a repeat of the process outlined above. You break each wall down to an individual then measure each wall individually. You can then calculate the number of panels to fit on each wall.

What Tools do you recommend for Measuring up for Bathroom Wall Panels?
For measuring up I recommend a tape measure with a good stand out (standout is the distance the tape can be extended before folding), the best I have used is the Fat Max (below)
For measuring a wall or room for panels, a Laser Distance Measure really does make a difference. Accuracy and speed, you will wonder why you have only purchased one now. You measure the wall with a single button click. Recommended.

Can I use PVC Panel offcuts?
This is where people new to panels get confused. Unlike flooring, panels join on their sides and not top and bottom. This is why you dont refer to PVC panels in Square Metres. Any offcuts need to represent the full length of where you want to fit them.
In the example with the window, we required lengths of 110cms and 20cms so this gave us enough spare within a 2.7 Metre panel to use twice.
